KERRY: Hi, my name is Kerry Wallaert and I'm a Greek area coordinator with the Office of
Residence Life, and today is move-in day! We have over 2,900 students living on campus
this year, and with all of the things going on, we are converting private rooms into double-occupancy
rooms, we have first-year students living in our Greek buildings where we have open
spaces, we are extremely full this year but we are definitely happy to have everybody
on campus. The enrollment of our first-year student class is over 1,900 students, so there
are lots of students coming to campus, and we're really excited to have them here as
well. With the move-in process, our students will move in over at the Show Me Center and
then once they get their keys and they talk to community members with different businesses,
they are able to move into their residence halls. As you can see, we have lots of students
moving in, we have over 1,000 volunteers this year helping them move into the residence
halls, it is a great day to be at Southeast. >> TIFFANY: My name is Tiffany Kopp, I'm from
Wasington Missouri. I'm really excited, I want to set up my room and I'm excited to
meet my roommate. >> STEPHANIE: My name is Stephanie Formon,
I come from St. Louis, Missouri, I graduated from Career Acadamy in St. Louis City. I'm
so excited, because I see, like, all of these are going to be my classmates, and just everything
is so lively and fresh, everyone is so nice and kind. Yeah, everything is moving along
great and well, I'm excited. I chose Southeast -- well, I had a lot of schools on my list,
but when I visited the campus it was so, I just got a feeling that this was where I needed
to be. It was just, just, I just loved the atmosphere of Southeast. It was friendly,
it was diverse, they had my major, which I loved...
>> KERRY: First year students this weekend, along with our returning students will start
with a welcome bash tonight on Parker Field, and tomorrow we will kick off the morning
with convocation, and they will work through their Redhawk Day tomorrow. This weekend,
we also have the Ice Cream Pig Out on Friday, we have the movie on the terraces on Saturday,
and Sunday is our big Welcome Back Picnic over at the Show Me Center.
