My brothers and sisters of the Great Republic of the Congo,
Today we are faced with a new challenge. That challenge is for us to overcome the old historic
way of pain and suffering and write a new history of honor and courage. In order for
us to establish a country of peace and pride we must be inspired to thrive. It is time
for the Congo to seek its own way, reaffirm our cultural identity, and rely upon ourselves.
"Let's us not Consult our fears but our hopes and dreams. Let's us not think about our frustrations,
but about our unfulfilled potential. Let's not concern ourselves with what we tried and
failed in, but with what it is still possible for us to do and accomplish." We must act
today in order to preserve tomorrow.
We must begin to help ourselves collectively instead of selfishly. This is the only solution
to our country's problems. If no one among is capable of governing himself, then who
among us has the capacity to govern someone else? We will be the exemplar of freedom and
a beacon of hope for all those who do not now have freedom, within our borders as well
as throughout the continent of Africa.
My brothers and sisters hope for positive change will come from people like you, not
from the current Congolese political regime. It is blindingly apparent that there is
inadequate governance, corruption and mismanagement of our country's political system which has
perpetuated the acts of war that have destroyed the fabric of our society. The solution to
our nation's problems starts with the people. We must carry out our own initiatives to solving
our own problems which is why it is imperative that we join together to construct a solid
and secure future.
So, with all the creative energy at our command, let us begin an era of national renewal. Let
us renew our determination, our courage, and our strength. And let us renew our faith and
our hope.
When there is a lack of honor in government, the morals of the whole people are compromised.
A strong government and free market economy builds strong communities and honors the dignity
of every person, rewarding effort with affluence, promoting upward mobility, and building solidarity
among the people.
We must imbue our life with action. We cannot wait for it to magically appear. Let us make
it happen and create our own future, our own hopes and our own love to live by. And whatever
our beliefs, let us honor our creator, not by passively waiting for grace to come down
from upon high, but by doing what we can do to facilitate grace.
We must work to build a legacy of prosperity and a peaceful way of life. Respect for ourselves
and respect for others. Promoting good education and strong ethics coupled with great family
values, culminating in national unity.
I believe with all my heart that the DRC remains 'the great idea of hope' that encourages my
Vision and motivates me to foster change. It is a privilege to be born in the Congo.
It is an honor to be a Congolese citizen. It is a blessing to raise my family there,
to vote, and to reside there. No one was ever venerated for what he or she received. Honor
has been the reward for what he or she contributed.
I suppose, in a way, this has become part of my soul. It is a symbol of my life. Whatever
I have done that really matters, I've done with the strength and conviction of my heart.
This is the foundation from which I venture forth.
Thank you, may almighty God be with you and bless the Democratic Republic of Congo.
