Could the cure for Alzheimer’s disease be in your kitchen cabinet? If you’re a big
fan of coconut oil, the answer might be yes. I’m Kimberly Walleston. Stick around for
this episode of InsidersHealth News. If you have had to live with the effects of
Alzheimer’s, you know the struggle and hardship that families go through with this debilitating
disease. The degenerative illness causes those suffering to lose their memory, advance reasoning,
and eventually even their basic motor skills. But with the help of coconut oil and the little
ingredient called ketones. you may be able to reclaim your life. Here’s the basic science.
Alzheimer’s patients have insulin problems that prevent brain cells from accepting glucose,
their primary fuel. Without this fuel, they eventually die, leaving two very serious problems.
But it turns out that an alternative fuel, ketones, can easily be accepted by cells and
metabolizing the liver after ingesting coconut oil. While this might not be a cure for everyone,
many examples with positive outcomes have been recorded. Some patients were not only
slowing their degenerative problems, but also reversing some of the existing issues they
were having. And it turns out there may be an even stronger cure that expands on the
use of ketones, but no one is willing to pay because of the bottom line. A group of biochemists
led by Dr. Karen Clark at England’s Oxford University, has developed a ketone aster that
packs ten times the punch of coconut oil. A person would be able to choose an amount
to drink and control their levels, increasing the chances for success. The only problem
is the millions of dollars that it would take to mass produce it. And since there is no
real profit in that type of treatment, the money just isn’t there. But the good news
is that coconut oil will be around as long as we have grocery stores, so it can’t hurt
to stock up and give the holistic approach a try. And if that doesn’t work, well at
least you’re all set for the beach. That’s it for this edition of InsidersHealth
News. I’m your host, Kimberly Walleston. And remember, it’s your health, we’re
just helping you think outside the docs.
