Hi, I'm Linda Wooldridge and I'm a home school mom. Sometimes I get asked, What is earning
a GED at home? Well let's start with what is a GED. Simply put, the GED is a graduate
equivalency diploma. It's not the same thing as graduating from high school, but it does
say that you have mastered high school level work. And you can use that in place of a high
school diploma, for the military, for jobs, sometimes even for colleges or career schools.
So if you decide that taking the GED is for you, then what you would want to do is to
look in to study programs. Many schools offer them, but since we're talking about taking
them at home, you would be more interested in finding books or computer programs that
would enable you to study the material at home. After all, if we're covering everything
you've learned from K through twelve, there's a lot of material to go over. When you feel
that you've mastered that material, then you would be ready to sign up for and take your
GED. Usually that is done at a traditional school setting. But you might be able to find
another opportunity. In any event what you want to look at is making sure that you have
properly studied and signing up for and taking that GED test. And once you've done that you've
got your graduate equivalency diploma and you're ready to face the world as a high school
graduate. Good luck with that GED. I'm Linda Wooldridge and I'm a home schooling mom.
