Hello and welcome to the California Office of the Patient Advocate.
I’m Sandra Perez. As director, I invite you to explore our website.
The Office of the Patient Advocate is an independent office in California
government. We’re here to make sure you know your rights
and what you can do to get the best possible health care.
Our goal is to help you make informed decisions about your health care
and to become your own best advocate.
The Office of the Patient Advocate has information to help you choose
and to get the most from your health care plan.
We work with other government agencies and advocates throughout California
to help you with your problems and make sure your voices are heard.
We are here to help. Sometimes, people can feel helpless when
they have a problem, or overwhelmed when it comes to making
a health care decision. The Office of the Patient Advocate is here to
help you if you have problems and questions in getting the care you deserve.
The annual report card shows how HMO’s and medical groups are
performing in California. You can find out how the largest HMO’s and
hundreds of medical groups compare to national standards
and how health plan members rate the services they receive.
Our guide, How to Use Your Health Plan, helps answers questions about
your rights, health plan benefits, health care costs, and more.
