Hey, this is Jeff with The Two Wheeler Dealer. Today I'm going to show you how to install
a quill stem on your bike. First thing is basically to apply a little bit of grease
to the inside of the steer tube. You can also apply a little bit to the inside of the wedge
on the bottom. Just to prevent it from down the road ceasing up and rusting. Or getting
stuck that'll save you some headaches down the road and then you're just going to insert
it. Pay attention to there is a minimum insertion line on all quill stems. You have to make
sure that. That line is set right below the top. You can go in further than that but don't
let it come out beyond that line and then there's just a six millimeter bolt. In the
center that's going to cinch that wedge up. Tighten everything up. So just tighten that.
You want these real tight and you can install your handlebar to remove these two five millimeter
face plate bolts. Set your handlebar in there. Torque these back down. These should also
be relatively tight as far as torque. Just be careful not to strip them out and make
sure that the handlebars are straight and lined up. Which there are and every thing's
good to go and that's how to install a quill stem.
