It's confusing for a nutrition researcher -
since you could think food is a nice thing.
It seems like -
that for the people who are especially angry -
food and its effects on health -
have become something that resembles religion.
Let's compare those on a low-carb diet to vegans, for example.
Veganism does not follow the official nutritional guidelines.
It is stated in the guidelines, however, -
that it's possible to eat vegan food if you pick your food carefully.
Vegans are very happy.
They never send slandering messages or anything like that.
If someone wants to eat a lot of meat and butter -
and not have any grains -
there's evidence that it's harmful.
It seems to create, at least in the most fundamentalist circles, -
very strong opposition.
Men are more active in aggressive discussion about nutrition.
It's funny, because women are more interested in nutrition, in general.
Aggressive online discussion seems to be a male thing.
There are doctors. They are not researchers, -
but usually GPs or specialists in another area of medicine.
There are biologists and chemists, -
so they are mostly academically educated people.
They have to be, because they can read -
scientific articles in English.
So, their language skills are good.
