Here is another example of a sketch that I drew, and you can see it's a fairly small
sketch from my sketch book. And I only took one small aspect of this sketch and blew it
up to make this print. Concentrating on the negative space and these lines here, and some
of the more positive space elements by carving out more of these areas beneath. Just a kiss
of all of the action that's going on underneath here, it becomes a very abstractive image.
There's some tale tell signs of seeing the image of this soldiers face outlined, and
this is actually the javelin from the print. But for me, knowing what this is, is not the
important element, for me the contrast of lines and colors are what I was really trying
to extrapolate from this drawing. The drawing itself might be a more recognizable image,
but what I was trying to get out of it was some of the more unique qualities of print
making, it's more the abstract qualities of print making, by using this really deep blue
contrasted on this orange, to give a really stark graphic image that isn't necessarily
recognizable.
