Hello, Thanks for taking the time
to speak with me
I wanted to know before
coming to sitsongpeenong,where you were?
In beginning
I was
at a camp called Sitphodaeng
Was that long ago?
when I first came to Bangkok I was 13, I'm now 48
How long were you at sitphodaeng?
Did you fight while you were there?
Yeah, I was studying and fighting,
I fought about 90 times nearly 100, but didn't go as far as I wanted
were you a trainer there?
Sitphodaeng sold our fighter contracts
they sold our contracts to Phillip Wong of Fairtex
I fought for Fairtex about 2 times
I didn't fight well and couldn't go any further, I had to stop...
The old head of the sitphodaeng taught me how to be a trainer
.... when you were at fairtex
you trained a lot of people who went on to become champions right?
yeah there were a lot, the first was Bunkerd
105 rajadomnern and 108lbs lumpinee
lots of people who made it but didn't win the championship
there was paiboon
their was yoknoi fairtex
and there
was the most famous... Jongsanan
how old was noom (jongsanan) when we was with you?
I think he was about 15...
by the time he was 16 he was fighting for about 100K baht...
it was quite rare to earn that kind of money, there were the superstars, Jorenthong, Namkabuan
orono, superlek
sangtienoi,
yes that was considered the golden era, and Jongsanan was the last of that era
he moved up quickly through the ranks
how many times did he fight before he got to that point?
he fought 4 times before he came to us... then I trained him
he fought 7 times for us before fighting at lumpinee
N: so he fought 11 times before fighting for 100K?
yes, about 11 times before he had his shot at lumpinee
N: there are probably very few fighters, who had so few fights...
M: yeah he was strong, and he was afraid of me
he was strong, he was big
and he was big for his age
he won the lumpinee title
he fought about 15-16 times before winning his belt
N: that was super fast...
M: Philip and Songchai used to put on a lot of fights
they were lots of opportunities to fight
Jongsanan didn't waste any fights
he moved up with every fight, like he was riding and elevator
I helped him move up
this camp (sitsongpeenong) has a lot famous fighters
N: who are the most well known fighters?
M: there is Kem and Sittichai
N: was Kem with you since he was a child?
M: no he was aquired from Sor. Ploenchit
Sittichai, was also aquired but he's improved with us
he know moving up
he's fighting for the championship on the 18th
he's going to replace kem, we also have deksakda, theywit coming up
N: lots of younger kids coming up? M: yes Jomhod
he's quite agressive, he's about 38-39 kg
he reminds me of Jongsanan,he's very tough
he's fighting tomorrow, if you saw him you would think
he's just like Jongsanan, he doesn't wait...
he's a lot like Jongsanan
N: this year you won and award? M: Yes trainer of the year
what do you think...
a trainer needs to get to your level?
you once told me that anyone can hold pads
but it's not everyone who can be a trainer
that's correct... you can hold pads but it doesn't mean you are doing it correctly
there are way's of holding
long and short techniques and how much you personally invest in your fighters
you have to train hard and watch their diet and nutrition
after training
you need to watch their nutrition and weight
and you've got to be tough on them!
N: I'm really glad
that we had a chance to sit and chat...
there are a lot of people who've studied under Jongsanan
there have been hundreds if not thousands who have studied under bunkerd
and a lot of those people have gone on to open their own camps
those students when they learn how to kick
throw knees and elbows... in reality they've learned those techniques from you.
they've learned it from Bunkerd, who's learned from you... all those people owe you a debt of gratitude
Thank you for taking the time
