Hi, I'm Candi Cane Canncel with Expert Village. In this clip I'm going to show you how to
trace your pattern, fabric, lining and cut it out. So the first thing you're going to
do is take your fabric and lay it out and you can use any type of fabric you want for
your potholder. But a really good rule of thumb is you want something that has a bit
of polyester in it or something that is really durable so that if you wash it a number of
times you don't end up, it doesn't end up loosing it's shape. Or if you use something
that was just really delicate it probably wouldn't work for a potholder. So I'm using
just a oven polyester this was just a vintage fabric that I came across I really just love
the look of it. What you're going to do is cut two pieces out of your main fabric, two
pieces of you lining fabric and then you're going to cut four pieces out of your batting.
What that is going to enable for you to do is to actually touch something that is hot
and not get burned. So it does seem a bit of accessive having four pieces of batting
inside but you're going to have one on one side and one on the other. So it's just going
to give you some adding protection. You lay out your fabric and put your pattern on it
trying to get it as straight as you can then you're going to go ahead and trace out your
pattern.
