Here's the helmet.
made out of foamcore. It just has
paper glued onto it. And an elastic strap. The helmet has some foam hot glued.
It's all just hot glue.. and
here's what you use. You can get this at a hobby store. It's a poster mount
real lightweight but yet strong board. Super easy to cut with a razor blade
or whatever you want. So you print out your
image, glue it onto here,
and cut this out. I joined these at an angle
so that the corners look really nice, otherwise you have a white edge
like showing on the sides. So you can see it's a
45ยบ angle there you can cut and then just hot glue it all together
the nose, this piece
we bent out a little bit cuz a nose from the face
get smashed a little and this
is about the right size for s child. Doesn't fit on my head but it's good for the kids
Halloween costumes
and just hot glue some elastic. Works out really well.
And the same thing with this pick
pickaxe. This is just a
foam core with the page glued on both sides. The printed page.
I did two
layers of foam core otherwise this would probably kink and bend pretty easy.
If you don't want to use foam core,
the first when I made was just out of cardboard. I did four layers of cardboard
and I alternated them so that it would be strong.
Alternated the corrigation but then you just glue on the paper
again. It's easiest to
I'll show you here if you are going to use cardboard.
You can see that the corrugation
runs one direction and so
when you glue it down cut a bunch of pieces
and instead of having all the corrugation go this way
put some wood glue down or some just school glue whatever
smear it down, put on another piece of cardboard
with the corrugation going this way and then the next one you do go this way
and then the next
corrugation so way the pic or whatever you build won't bend
very easy. It's actually pretty strong when you do that.
Once you have four layers you can put a bunch of books on it just to weigh
it down
and just leave it there for 10 minutes it dries
pretty fast because the paper soaks up the glue so quick
and then you can glue your image on
Don't even
don't even cut it out. Just glue the whole sheet of paper down
on to the cardboard
and then cut it out. Once the whole thing is cut out, flip it over
and then glue the reverse side
image on and that's about it.
