Hi, I'm Anne Fritz with the JetSetGirls,
and today we're going to talk about boho hairstyles.
The beauty of boho hair is that it's natural and free-flowing
so you don't have to spend lots of hours with hot styling tools.
The look should be slept in and messy, but never ever sloppy.
These styles look great at the beach or with '70's inspired
fashions, like floral prints or eye cat prints,
also *** dresses are the third one.
These particular boho hairstyles work best
on hair that is slightly wavy.
So, if you're fresh from the shower, like me, start off by
combing your hair with a widetooth comb, or a brush.
And then when it comes to parting it, you're going to
want to part slightly towards the center.
Not just in the center because that's going to be a little
too severe for most people.
But if you go like an inch or so off, like I did here, it creates
a look that really works well with these hairstyles
and is the most flattering.
So, the second step you may want to add some styling product
to amp up your curls or your wave.
Today I'm going to use the Fekkai Summer Beach Waves,
I love this product.
It's a salt spray and you simply spritz it on, all over,
I like to use a lot of it, and this product smells so great,
like you're at the beach.
That coconut suntan lotion smell is delicious.
So, spritz it on liberally, and then you can kind of
just scrunch your hair.
Like so.
Now, comes the hardest part of all, or at least
the hardest part for me, which is, you should not
touch your hair until it is completely dry.
That's because if you do so, you'll break up the curls,
which can lead to frizz and nobody wants that.
Now, that your hair is dry, you have a few
different styling options.
The first is what I like to call Medieval Princess,
because it kind of has that damsel in distress, but you know
she can really take care of herself kind of vibe.
So you get started, you need two little hair clips like these.
And then you simply take a piece of hair from the front,
just about an inch, and straight from the part,
and just start to work by twisting it back.
It's pretty easy, you just have to keep on twisting
until you get to the back.
Then you take your barrette and you clip it in like so,
and repeat on the other side.
This style is great for when you want to keep your hair
out of your face.
I know sometimes like on a windy day, especially when you're at
the beach or something, that can be a great way to do it.
And you can twist as tightly or as loosely as you want,
it's really your own personal preference,
and what works best for your hair type.
If your hair is thicker, it might not work,
or if it's too big, if it's twisted too tightly.
So there you have it, Medieval Princess.
The second boho hairstyle we're going to learn how to do today
is mermaid-style braids.
Mermaid-style braids mean you're going to have
one or two tiny braids throughout your hair.
So, you start by taking a section of hair, I don't even
think mine's an inch, you can see about how long it is.
And then you're simply going to braid it.
There's no trick to this, it's not like a French braid
or anything, it's just a braid in the front.
The neat thing about this type of braid, because you already
have some texture in your hair from your styling product,
whether you used a salt spray or a curl cream.
You really don't need to tie it at the bottom, so it's pretty
much going to stay the way it is.
Like so.
If you want and have the time, you could spritz on
a little hair spray and seal it with a flat iron,
and that will also make sure it stays in place.
Another trick that's kind of neat,
is to do one underneath your hair,
so that type of braid you'll see when you move.
It just also kind of fun and sexy.
I think these are just so super beachy, these types of mermaid
braids, and you could also try doing that when you're
on a ski trip, I sort of see hanging out by a fireplace,
in a great fluffy little sweater.
This one's a little harder to see at the bottom of my hair,
but you might see girls doing this with ribbons built in,
with a ribbon added to the hair.
So again, you're doing this with a tiny piece of hair,
and you don't really need a hair band at the bottom.
Especially thanks to that styling product
that we used earlier.
So, there's a finished braid.
So of course, what makes both these styles so wearable is that
they aren't perfect, that you really are the boho girl who
just has a great free-flowing spirit and loves life,
and doesn't have time to make her hair look perfect,
meaning that, not every single hair has to be in place,
but it always looks beautiful.
So, there you have my tutorial on how to create
two easy boho hairstyles.
Thanks for watching and see you next time.
