Half a year has passed since the bold idea to install the first
Public Solar Mobile Phone Charger in the Belgrade municipality Obrenovac.
The idea came from a group of students from various faculties.
As we can see on the top we have solar panels that use solar energy and transform
it into electrical, store it in batteries that are inside the device.
Then we use this energy to recharge the mobile phones of the passengers.
All they have to do is to choose the appropriate slot and by pressing
the button they activate the charging.
Maybe all this seems simple, but why didn't you think of it?
They went a step further, a big step further. They won the first place on a
competition organized by the European Commission in Brussels in the category:
Reduction of public consumption. They have won over
big European companies.
These were the first sketches of the Charger we wanted to bring to Brussels,
from the modifications we have to make, up to its' final look.
From the first version that was installed in Obrenovac to the last version we brought
to Brussels. Afterwards someone wrote this:
First we made this and then we won.
The first version of the Charger that they had to modify because of the transport to
Brussels, has chargers for all models of mobile phones.
You just need to press the button and wait. It is also convenient
to hide from the rain.
We really want to install the Charger in many municipalities because this
is a device useful to all citizens and the municipality, as well.
Now we are negotiating with some cities about installing
the Charger on as many locations as we can.
From the winning pedestal the Charger could easily arrive to large European cities.
There are interested potential clients.
As we were in Brussels, with our charger, there was a lot of interest
from the employees of the Parliament, which is one of the most
important institutions in Europe, as well as from the passengers, who
are also a very important factor in their cities. So now we are in negotiations
and contact with all of them. There is interest from some large European cities.
So we are hoping to install the Charger in Europe, as well.
The Charger won in the category among 309 other projects.
Due to the fact that this student team was the youngest and the only one outside the
borders of the European Union, they and the Charger should be set in the spotlight.
They will know how to use it.
