The nursing home in this film is completely fictional, and does not represent the conditions in Norwegian nursing homes.
- Tjostolv!
- This sounds like a nice place; doesn't it, father?
- Well, yes... I guess it does.
- Do they have activities to spend their time on here?
- Oh yes, there is plenty of animation for them.
- And the food here, is it good?
- Absolutely. The food is excellent.
- Do they sleep well at night?
- Yes. We make sure of it.
- This place sounds great!
(Sound of television)
(Today we opened a new nursing home facility in -)
- It's six o'clock, people. Time to go to bed!
Not you Borre; you have kitchen duties along with Tjostolv today.
- So, they've gotten ahold of you too?
- Who exactly?
- Your family. Left you for the vultures. Abandoned you!
You can grin all you want. The nurses are just waiting for us to rot away.
If they'd have had it their way, they would've drowned us in this watery soup.
- It can't possibly be that bad?
- You don't know the half of it! Corrupt ***!
Open your eyes! Can't you see how we are being treated?
They are treating us horribly.
- What were you doing yesterday? I was looking out through the window,
and the guards were practically carrying you inside.
- I was trying to run away. It wasn't my first attempt.
But now that time is past.
- Borre.
- Tjostolv.
(Obituaries)
(Freedom)
- I want to die as a free man.
That's why I've tried to escape.
- Tjostolv, you need to wake up! I know a way to escape!
- There's no use, Borre! I have tried everything!
- But you need to listen to me! The doors in the cellar have electrical locks,
so if I can turn off the right fuses, we can leave through the staff exit.
- Listen to me, Borre. It's too late! This is how it's meant to be.
- Weren't you the one who wanted to die as a free man?
- If i can switch off the right fuses here, we can get out quickly,
and no one will notice anything until tomorrow morning.
Tjostolv!
- What was that? - ***! I switched the wrong fuses!
- Run, goddamnit!
