Robbie speaking for expert village. We're going to talk about breaking in motors, probably
one of the most; well the most critical or important parts of racing a nitro or just
playing with a nitro engine is the proper break in. Just as you wouldn't take a brand
new car that you drove off the show room, get out on the interstate and run it 150 mph
nor will you do that with one of these. There's a conditioning process or break in as it's
known as in the industry. When you buy the car what you do is basically you got to run
the engine very rich and all that means is you just got to get a excessive amount of
oil going through the engine as all when you first start it. So for about the first 3 to
5 tank full's of gas to the car you'll run it excessively rich. What that does is provide
an excessive amount of lubrication to all the internal engine parts and allows them
to conform or fit together as kind of a matching or mating process that they go through. Lot
of people like to rush that part, they think its a pain in the neck and they really don't
like to do it but its absolutely critical for good engine life performance and if you
want the vehicle to run it its absolute maximum percentage. I mean these things put out as
much as 3 and a 1/2 to 4 horsepower's each. You spend the money on them; you want to get
the maximum performance out of it. So make sure you take the time, all the manufactures
give very detailed copious instructions on how to break the motors in as well as you
can always consult with your local hobby shop.
