What's important about the standards-based data, the PDF has
tremendous functions, but many of them, for purposes outside
of the issue that really is driving higher ed right now and that is
access and successive students: the completion agenda. What are the
attributes of students who are successful? How can institutions use the data
that they're receiving through a variety of sources to both anticipate student success
and help facilitate it? How can we look at how these students have moved through our
systems and moved into the workforce? What are the attributes of successful folks?
How do we make fine-tuned changes to what our delivery?
I mean that's what you gain from having a more detailed ability to
access data in more meaningful ways than simply a static PDF.
So I think that's going to drive the agenda and allow many of us to
achieve the objectives that states are wanting, they're putting that
pressure on institutions, federally they're putting pressure on us and if you don't
use the data that's at your fingertips, you're not going to be successful.
