Hi, I'm Guy Lovett. I'm Shell's Technology Manager for Ferrari.
This is the Inside Track to Singapore.
[INSIDE TRACK SINGAPORE: 22.09.2013]
[TURNS: 23 LAPS: 61]
[LENGTH: 5,073km]
Fernando Alonso: The Singapore circuit is a special race
basically because it's the only race in the calendar that is at night.
Marc Gené: Visibility's perfect. There are a lot of corners.
It's probably one of the tracks with more corners.
A lot of time you are close to the barriers. It's quite bumpy.
Fernando Alonso: The car needs a very specific setup,
like all the straight circuits.
A little bit softer overall.
Mark Wakem: Very short straights. Lots of breaking and acceleration.
So going up and down through the rev range,
and this puts different stresses on the oil.
Guy Lovett: Over the race weekend, the driver will change gears
a massive 8,000 times.
This means the oils have to be extra-resilient
to operate and maintain performance in this hostile environment.
David Salters: Fuel consumption at Singapore can be an issue
because it's a high downforce circuit.
Mike Evans: This is more or less a two-hour full time limit of the race.
Very demanding. High temperatures.
Lots of stop, starts
on the circuit.
And slow corners, that puts a real strain on the fuel efficiency.
Marc Gené: The track is evolving throughout the weekend,
so you are catching up on the grip of the track.
You have to think about that - how good will the track be on race day?
Giacomo Tortora: The simulation work is extremely important
because the track evolves very quickly,
so it's very important to get a good as possible setup out of the box.
Fernando Alonso: It's a fantastic race to enjoy.
