Hello. I'm Dr. Benny Johnson, President of Quantum Simulations Incorporated.
Welcome to our virtual demonstration of Quantum's artificial intelligence tutoring
technology
for student learning and teacher training.
Our internet delivered Tutors use AI technology to inspire students to
improve their knowledge and appreciation for science and mathematics
just as my first chemistry teacher and co-founder at Quantum, Mr. Dale Holder, did
for me several years ago.
Over the next few minutes I'll show you how Quantum's Chemistry and Mathematics
Tutors differ from any other tool available today
by giving you an actual demonstration of our software
and explaining the learning principles, research, and AI technology that drive our
Tutors.
If there's anything you should remember from this discussion it's this...
Research shows that students who use Quantum Tutors
to help them with their classroom and textbook studies
have improved test scores by as much as 50%.
With results like this you can see why Mr. Holder and I are so passionate and
excited about the research in development work we've completed over
the past six years
and why Quantum continues to receive funding and support from the U.S.
Department of Education and the National Science Foundation.
So why are Quantum's AI Tutors so effective in improving comprehension
problem solving skills
and test scores?
I'll quickly highlight four key points here and show you examples in the
demonstration that follows.
For the first time Quantum give students the ability to get to tutoring help on
any problem they need to work on.
This makes the Tutors compatible with any curriculum.
Second, Quantum allows a student to enter their own work just as they would work
through problems on paper. The Tutor actually understands their work and
coaches the student through a solution.
Third, Quantum provide students with an evolving menu of questions that change
based on how the student approaches the problem.
And finally,
Quantum uses a dialogue tool to communicate with students one on one.
The Tutor interacts with and responds to the student based on their individual
needs
whether they are beginner or an advanced level student.
Let's say I'm a middle school student who needs to find 30% of
180.
I'll put this problem in.
If I'm not sure how to start, for instance, if I've forgotten the formula
for finding a percentage,
there are a number of questions I can ask to help me get started.
Through a patented new AI method powering the Quantum Tutors
I can even enter a wild guess as an answer and the Tutor can use this to
teach me about percentage concepts such as here, when I simply guess 100
is the answer.
Next, I apply the formula incorrectly - say by just multiplying by the percentage and
forgetting to convert it to a fraction first.
The Tutor recognizes this and can then answer further questions I might have
about this error so I understand it before I go on.
I can also enter my answer as an expression to see if I'm on the right
track before I simplify.
At the bottom of the page the Tutor keeps a running transcript. In this
transcript I have a complete record of my own personalized tutoring session
containing instruction I got on my problem, feedback on my own work, and the answers
to the questions I asked.
Nothing that happened is lost in case I need to go back and look again at
something from earlier in the session.
I can also save my transcript for later study, print it out, or even email it to my
teacher - its just a web page.
As you've seen from this demo
effective learning is so much more than just giving the correct answers. True
understanding comes from grappling with difficult concepts,
applying personal experience, and even taking some wrong turns along the way.
Quantum encourages students to think for themselves while reinforcing strong
learning skills.
Our Tutors are available in modules just like chapters in a book.
We offer Quantum Tutors for Chemistry and Applied Mathematics for Science.
The software is accessed online via an internet subscription that's priced per
user.
This means there are no cd's or downloads and it doesn't matter if you
have a PC or a Mac.
All you need is an internet connection.
Best of all, students and teachers can access the Tutors anytime, anywhere,
at school, in the lab,
and most importantly at home.
I hope you found this virtual demonstration helpful. I'm sure you'll
agree that the Quantum Tutors are like nothing you've ever seen before.
Thank you for your time and we look forward to hearing from you soon.
