this episode of computing forever is brought to you by a Harvey Norman
I have to admit it I love cheap android devices and if you're looking for a
bargain
you should check out prestigio this is the first is your multi-part for quantum
7.85
it looks and feels like a premium savell because just $199 euros
now I'll start off by saying the Harvey Norman are selling the Nexus 7 for an
extra 50 euros
and it's a significant step up in every way but for those people who don't want
to stretch beyond 199 euros this is a great way to go
the specs include a 1.6 gigahertz quad-core
a9 processor one gig around 8 gigabytes of storage
expandable of course and a 7.85 inch display that's the same as the iPad Mini
in dimensions but the resolution is only 1024 by 768
what I really love it studio devices is the fact that they include this lovely
leather carrying case it's a nice touch now let's go ahead and peel off the
plastic and take a look at this thing for the very first time
now the ports on this team include micro SD expansion an HDMI output the volume
and power buttons feel very solemn high quality and there's also
a micro USB port at the bottom but it's the build quality this thing that really
strikes you upon first holding us although it slightly heavier than an
iPad Mini feels exactly like when it's super slim
at Point 35 inches thick and the back cover sports the same brush metallic
texture
from the iPad air it fits very well in one hand and it's really not very heavy
at all
inside the box you find the usuals Manual power adapter and of course USB
cable
running fairly stock Android 4.2 jelly bean performance is solid enough
it comes preloaded with all the usual Android out you come to expect
it performs well for most everyday tasks web pages load quickly albeit with some
occasional lag on certain sites with heavy content
it's perfect for mobile gaming the display sports some
vibrant colors it's nice bright and viewing angles are very good indeed
but it just 163 PPI its at a quest
but not exactly gonna cut it against the big boys it's no slouch for video
playing
either but to me a reliable real world gaming benchmark is CSR racing
which runs very well indeed graphic be there is a slight step down when
compared to the LGG Pat
but this is perfectly playable
as you can see like I said in the beginning but steel multi pack for
quantum 7.85 is no match for the higher and slates but that's the point
its aimed at the sub 200-year-old low to mid-range market and consequently
expectations have to be adjusted accordingly I love a bargain as much as
the next tech geek
and this is a fine example of one with above average build quality decent
performance in the added bonus being cheap
this device could be the last minute Christmas stocking filler tablet you
been looking for
