Hi everyone! I just got finished up with the Baby Show in Ottawa this weekend, and I had
an awesome time, but it was so much work that now I'm kindof sick. I didn't take enough
rest in the weeks leading up to the show. So I've got a throat infection and a stuffy
nose. I'm ok, but I'm not as well as I normally am, so I want to give you guys a few tips
on how you can stay active, even while you're sick. If I was really really sick, I would
just stay in bed all day. You'll know yourself if you're too sick to exercise. But if you're
just kinda, not really feeling up to your regular regime, here's a few things that you
can do to stay active either while you're sick or while you're recovering from having
a really bad cold or something.
The first thing I'm going to do today is not sit on my couch. At all. Even though I'm sick,
and tired, I'm not going to sit on my couch. When I need to sit, I'm going to sit on the
floor, and I'm going to move positions a lot. That's going to use a lot of different muscle
groups. If I'm sitting with my legs out in front of me, or out to the sides, one leg
bent, or the other leg bent, or my legs crossed, and then crossed the other way, and then maybe
a butterfly... (to Myriam) Is that hilarious? Yea? It's hilarious?
So there's a bunch of different ways that I can sit on the floor. If I get really tired,
I'll put a blanket on the floor and I'll just lay face down for a little while for a rest.
That's my first thing. No couch today. I'm already too sick to do my regular exercise
so I don't want to make it even worse by staying in this position for hours at a time. No couch.
The second thing I'm gonna do is go for a walk. With this thing here!
Myriam: I need to talk too!
you do? You have some tips to give people? SO we're going to go for a walk.
Myriam: With my princess dress on!!
With your princess dress on.
Myriam: Yea. A walk to the park.
If you go for a walk to the park with your princess dress on, you're guaranteed to feel
better. When you're sick and you want to stay active you don't have to go crazy. Going for
a walk is great, it's awesome.
The third thing I'm going to do is a bunch of my restorative exercises. So you know,
I'll lay my back and do (to Myriam, I need you to stay right here...you can sit)
I'll lay on my back and open up my chest, do some windmills, I'll stretch my hamstrings,
I'll stretch my calves. All that is really great for your muscles, even though you're
not lifting weights or running or doing crazy cardio, just the act of stretching your muscles
and bringing some length back into them is going to make them stronger. So just doing
nothing, sitting with your legs straight is still doing something great for your muscles.
The fourth thing I'm going to to is drink some really fatty bone broth with vegetables
in it and then hopefully I'll feel better. that's it. I'm gonna go get to it.
Myriam: Bye
Bye
Myriam: Bye
Feel better everyone else that's sick out there just like me!
