Your jump from high school to UQ will be exciting and challenging. These tips will give you
some insight into what you can look forward to when you start your journey.
Get out of your comfort zone and experience what UQ can offer you. It's a big place with
45 thousand students. Now that's a lot of Facebook friends!
Make sure you don't miss Orientation Week and sign up to different student-run clubs
and societies. These groups are a great way to get involved, make friends and explore
something new - like the chocolate appreciation society!
UQ has lots of free services to help you. Come along and get involved in seminars and
workshops on topics like study tips, timetable management & academic writing sessions. They
will really give you the edge you need to succeed.
Talk to other students about studying different subjects, your timetable, how to manage group
assignments and what it's actually like to study here at UQ.
My top tip for making the move to UQ is to find the right balance of study, work, sporting
and social activities. Be smart, take control of your future and get the most out of your
uni life.
