bjbj. Walter: I just want you to take a look at this bowl. Jan: That's a big old bowl.
Walter: Big old bowl, and what's it full of? Jan: It is full of beans. Walter: Beans. See?
Jan: See, isn't that easy? Walter: And all sorts of stuff. You can put a lot of stuff
in these cowboy beans. Jan: Well, actually, somebody described to me what cowboy beans
were once. I thought "Okay. That sounds pretty good" and I decided to try to duplicate it.
He ended up telling me that this was nothing at all what he meant but this was better.
Walter: Okay. Jan: All I've done here is take a pound of dried beans. You used canned, I
used dried, doesn't matter. Walter: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Don't rub it in. Jan: This is
one chopped green bell pepper, chopped onion. This is one cup of barbeque sauce. Walter:
Okay. Jan: I had homemade yesterday, I ran out so this is commercial. Two cups of ketchup
and a cup of brown sugar. Walter: Okay. Jan: Okay? Now this is where we get kind of off-the-wall,
got a tablespoon of dried mustard. Walter: Which is a good thing. Jan: That's right.
A couple tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce, maybe three, I don't remember. Walter: That's
molasses. Jan: Then molasses. Walter: [inaudible 00:01:01] Are those sorghum molasses? They
look awfully dark to be sorghum. Jan: They are not sorghum molasses. Walter: That's all
right. I'll forgive you just this once. Jan: You need to bring me some. I would love to
use it. Walter: I'm going to have some in September. Jan: I will take some. All right,
now this is where it gets kind of crazy. I use pulled pork and all kinds of stuff. If
you want to, you can turn this into a main dish. Walter: No, it is a main dish. Jan:
That's right, and this is a pound of ground beef. This was supposed to be eight ounces
of ground pork but I got a little generous. Walter: All that goes in. Jan: All that goes
in and you just stir all of that together. Then you can either use a Dutch oven.. Are
you going to stir for me? Walter: No, I'm just going to move it out of the way, because
I've already been told that the young and the restless is coming down the hall. Jan:
All right. Well, you stir all that together and you can use a Dutch oven or you can use
a casserole dish if you don't have one. You do - I don't know - a couple hours, keep it
covered. Go for a couple of hours. Stir it about every 30 minutes. Walter: Now you see,
that's the way baked beans are supposed to look. Jan: That's what you end up with. Walter:
They're very rich in color. They're very thick. I hate baked beans that run around all over
the plate. Jan: Right. Walter: Those are excellent. Jan: Well, they're delicious. Walter: That
and a green salad would be a terrific meal. Jan: I do that and I do a little cornbread
on the side and all done. Walter: Yeah. I remember cornbread. I used to be able to eat
it. You folks want this recipe, I guarantee you. To get it you just write to Chefs Recipes,
