What I'm really doing at this point is really looking at the light. What is the light doing.
How is the light falling on the objects. And how does that light get lost and become shadow.
We're dealing with light and shadow. That's what this is really all about is light and
shadow. That's all that exists is some light and shadow. So, we can refine it by just watching
what happens with the light and trying to focus in those area of light that are most
extreme and as we do so, we let the painting itself evolve by just looking at where the
light is falling n these various objects, and refining our drawing as we go along. By seeing where the light is falling, and
where it's not falling. I'm seeing the light behind this little stem. And instead of drawing
the stem, I'm drawing around the stem, because that's where the light is. The light is behind
that stem. This stem is coming out automatically.
