these are new footages showing an episode that shocked Brazil this week.
It`s shark!
On Monday, July 22, at Praia de Boa Viagem, Recife.
The girl from São Paulo, Bruna Giobbi, 18, has been the victim of a shark attack.
The girl died hours later.
It was the tragic end of a week's vacation with relatives.
After ten years, Bruna returned to Pernambuco.
"When I bought the ticket, she was very happy.
She began to pack up screaming: I go to Recife, "
Hi! I`m in the airplane..
"Any place you can imagine we took photo. Bruna was very happy, "
Moments of joy interrupted.
"I did not know that my daughter was coming from Sao Paulo
to happen here what happened. Never, "
Bruna and four cousins ??were at the beach together.
She took this picture just before 01PM
She Would send to boyfriend`s mobile , but had no time.
She took a dive in the sea.
"Then we stayed on the beach and the water was above the navel,
when there came a series of waves pulling us into the sea,
was when Bruna was dragged to any of us could swim,"
Three cousins were able to leave the water.
Bruna and Daniele, did not.
"I sought the ground and could not walk on,
and she freaking out, hitting the water too.
There was the time I looked to the side and she had her hand raised,
nodding, asking 'help, for God's sake, get me out of here.'
She desperately screaming, "
Daniele was further from the beach,
as shown in the images from a security camera at the shore.
The lifeguards tried to reach the girls. Suddenly the shock.
"I realized it was a shark attack by the amount of blood
coming out of Bruna during displacement to make the save,"
At the exact moment of the attack you can see the shark fins.
A pool of blood formed.
"We were in despair began to cry, and I was in shock, just watching,"
Bruna was 50 meters from the beach and about 2.5 meters deep, firefighters said.
Part of the left leg was amputated
and suffered three cardiac attacks.
She Died shortly before midnight.
It is the 24th victim of shark attack in the Metropolitan Region of Recife, in 21 years.
The Pernambuco coast route turned to the sharks,
especially for tiger sharks, after the construction of the Port of Suape, in the 80s,
the researchers said.
"Port areas are traditionally areas with higher risks of shark attack,"
The hypothesis is that a tiger shark has attacked Bruna, one of the most violent species.
The shark is attracted by the coming and going of ships in port.
When approaching Suape, shark falls into a sea current to the North.
Then goes into a sort of canal, parallel to the coast, and is right near the beach.
"So, this stretch of coastline, exponentially increase the chances of suffering a shark attack,"
The prosecutor wants to prevent sea bathing and swimming in hazardous areas.
"Firefighters could have prevented the swimmer entered the sea, if there was a decree prohibiting bathing in the sea that stretch, which is notoriously dangerous for this type of activity,"
The government of Pernambuco disagrees.
"If we were banning parts of the beach, we would have to put next to each swimmer a policeman,"
For the body that monitors the sharks, the measures taken are enough. One is the placement of signs within 30 miles of waterfront.
Warnings are placed in hazardous areas. The plates are about a hundred yards from where Bruna was attacked.
Bruna's cousine says the group was not adequately warned about the risk involved.
"There were two lifeguards. He warned at the time that one of my cousins was getting into the sea and he was going to an area where the waves were a little higher.
But in no time he told me that that place was no likelihood of shark, "
The firefighter denies.
"We warned them and told them they should turn to a safer place,"
On the day of the attack, the ship responsible for monitoring and shark catch was stopped. Did not work for seven months.
He returned to action four days after the death of Bruna.
"I think that local, municipal, government, have to take responsibility for it because it was my cousin. Someone has to take action. Is it going to happen to others too?"
