In Chinese, there is only one verb for "is" "am" "are" and it's called是 [shì].
是 [Shì] is a verb-to-be and the good news is, you never have to change the verb form for past
tense, present tense and future tense. By that I mean when you want say I'm, he is,
they are, you say 我是[wǒ shì] 他是 [tā shì],他們是[tā men shì]. And
when you want to say I was, he was, they were, you say the same 我是[wǒ shì] 他是 [tā shì],
他們是 [tā men shì]. Well...I wish everything could be that simple, but
I have to tell you that "shì" 是 also means "yes" in Chinese. What? Don't worry, you will
learn more through our example sentences. Right now let's begin our lesson.
