Hi everybody. It’s Malcolm from Baskivilles again. Today we’re going to talk about the
PACE desoldering tools. PACE has been making desoldering tools for a long time and there’s
a huge range. What you see in front of you here are the older type and the new upgrades.
If you have one of these gray handpieces or this shape, possibly in a black, parts are
still available. These are good handpieces. There are a lot still out there. To get parts
for them, if you do have problems, the main parts are the switch which are in stock, that’s
not a problem. The elements are in stock, and the tips are in stock
To get the right elements all we need to know is how many wires they have on the back. Some
have three, some have two, and the SX70 there has five. If you do have the 5-wire one, these
are the early tips for it; they’re quite a short wee dumpy tip. If you’ve replaced
your element, you can actually improve the performance of your desoldering iron by using
these newer style of tips. They will fit in there, no problems at all. If you haven’t
replaced your element recently, you may find that they don’t go in because it hasn’t
been board [INAUDIBLE 1:28] enough, but the new elements are designed to do that. That’s
all I’m going to say about the older irons. Plenty of parts out there. They are very reliable,
very, very good irons.
The new SX series here, the 80, 90, or 100 series whichever you’ve got also have some
different variances in them. The main one being the type of element. You can see here
this element has a black plug and this one has a blue plug. That’s really the main
difference in them. So when you’re re-ordering elements for them, specify which you need,
checking whether it’s black or blue. The tips that you need for them are these longer
tips, and again there’s an upgrade available in the longer tip. Only for the black handpieces,
only for the SX80, 90 or 100. But PACE has redesigned these tips and they have now come
up with this type of tip here to save clogging in bits and pieces. They’ve actually flared
their end just so that the solder does not clog that tip.
So that’s really as complicated as it gets. The older type, the newer type, the flared
tips for a better improvement, black plug, blue plug. Unfortunately we can’t get parts
for all the old gray stations. If you do need to upgrade, there’s one other thing you
need to know. The [INAUDIBLE 3:16] plugs again are black or blue. If you’re looking for
a replacement iron, that’s the other piece of information which you’ll require. So
here at Baskivilles, we’re happy to supply all of those products for you. Look on our
website. Everything is in stock.
