hello everyone Michael here with the daily note 2 youtube channel and welcome to
another episode
I've answered many questions on how to set custom ringtones from mp3
or google music
how to exactly set at specific location of song or maybe how to remove
ringtones off a list
ringtones are incredibly easy to set
but there are a lot of tips and information that i had to look up
on how to
get it just right
i thought i do a comprehensive video on how to do just that
the easiest way to set a custom ringtone is to go to your music player
and when you go to this tap the all tap you could see that
all the mp3s that you have anywhere on the samsung galaxy
note 2
is on this list so what you can do is just
select one of them
and hit menu
and then you could do set as and you could see that you could set
as a phone ringtone
or you could set it as a individual caller ringtone like you could set
you could have different ringtone for all of your callers or just some of them while
everybody uses a basic ringtone
let's
do just that
we've added it says
ringtone edit so where that ends up is when you go to settings
this is how you normally set
the ringtone
with all the ringtones that the phone came with
you'll see that it's in this list
now if you want to delete songs off
this list is gets a little tricky
you could see that up until here
is all the ones that came with your phone but these are all that i have
been set
by me personally
and there's no
direct way to remove them off this list if you ever set them once
that is a
bit annoying but i found an app
that could
clean up the clutter
the app is called
ringtone remover manager
when you install it
the name is something else but let me show you
just search for ringtone remover manager
just install it it is pretty highly rated
four and a half stars
I don't see too many people complaining
i've scanned it with the virus
when you open it
you could see that it was once named awesome ringtone manager anyway just
select the ones you want to delete off of this list
we just edit this but let's remove that
as one of the ringtone options so just hit remove
and let's say yes for remove but the second notification is
to
delete the song
from your phone and i don't really want to do that so I'm going to hit no
let's go back
i'm going to go to settings
sound
and you could see that it is
now gone from this list
when you set a ringtone like that
you'll see that
the song starts playing from the beginning
that might work for some songs it may not work for others for example
i find that that's not bad but i think i could
I would prefer it to start at a different location
so if you want to do that you need to get an
app from the market the one i recommend is called mp3 cutter
it's the one with the scissor and the yellow mp3 symbol
let's open that install it and open it
i'm going to hit this open button
and just like music player
you're going to see all the mp3s you have
in this list here
let's just search
for the one I was working with
there we go
and
they give you some tools to work with
i'd like to use this record feature
I'm going to hit record and the same button again
to tell it when to start and stop
on the
part of the song that i like I think it's about one minute in
so
as you could see i have a ten-second set from
01:05 to 01:15 let's just play what we recorded
there was just a little bit on the end that i want to crop
I think that's going to be good for this demo
now that i have the time set
I'm going to hit start cut
and then it's going to
set that as my name sure that sounds fine
and then do save as a ringtone
let's do save
when we go here
let's go back to
sound
let's change it to MyTone
that's good
that's how you set a custom ringtone at a
certain location since we are in here we might as well look at device
vibration
you could see they have different vibration patterns
what's interesting is you could create your own
let's create one
maybe you could create something with
morse code or maybe I thought maybe you could add like a vibration
that would go well with the song
I will call this pattern 1
you could see that it got in there
now to delete
patterns off of here it gets more interesting
when you long press on the pattern that you have currently selected you
cannot delete it
but say that you want to delete this so all you need to do
is just set it as something else come back to it
now when you long press on it
you'll have the option to delete
the
custom vibrations that you created
and just like custom ringtones you could set custom vibration patterns for
each of your different contacts
when you open up a contact
and you scroll all the way down
you can
set any of these custom vibrations or you could create new ones
and since we're in here
if you ever set custom ringtone for each individual contact this is
where you can come to set just go to the contact directly
you might have a ringtone custom for this caller and you could
just set to default
and here's an answer for a specific question that came in today
which is how to I
take the music that i've
purchased from the google music store and make that a ringtone
to do that you need to download the mp3 first
you could do this on your computer but i just want to show you and
I'm at the google play music website
you need to be on the desktop version if you're doing it through the
if you're doing it through the phone so i have the desktop view enabled on
this website
and just go to the music that you purchase so i'm going to
go to that free and purchase
I just downloaded a bunch of free songs they're offering today for this demo
I just
download one of these
I'm not sure at all what kind of song that is but
you have the option to download songs directly off of here
i believe the
music files that you upload into google play
will download as mp3 but
when you purchase songs
i believe maybe
a slight DRM or
maybe just a different file extension
you could see that the song is downloading here
the song finished downloading and the file name that it got was
download.mpga now you finished downloading that file called download
.mpga
where that file is
it's in your external sdcard if you have one on your samsung galaxy note 2 or it
might be in your sdcard0 if you don't have a card
but it is in your
download folder
and you could see that the file download.mpga
is on your
it's in that location and then just start playing it
and just hit menu
and then do set as you can set it as a ringtone
now
when you try to trim
this file
it is a mp3 file but they've put it
with the different extension
so what you can do is you'll need an app like
EXfile explorer or
maybe just solid explorer
just fine that file with this app
we're going to go to our storage card
and download folder
and then we have
download.mpga just long
tap on it
do rename
we're going to change this to
mp3
now that that's done
we can use
this mp3 cutter
and then open
that file let's go to the file browser
we're going to go to sdcard0
download
download.mp3
and then we're going to cut this
we will do this again
we'll just
name this 2
save as ringtone save
on this
when you go to settings
sound
you could see that MyTone-download2 is in that list now

it
