the reimagines roots are deep in the cancer world
so do I need to have cancer to participate so there's a few things to
say about that as well
of though the first thing that comes to mind is that we began in cancer
and that was just because
there was an opportunity we had in our small town of aspen, Colorado to
work in the oncology unit and
the people that we were working with which which was patient and their
family caregivers worth so hungry for
tools and skills and so responsive that was just such a meaningful place to work
and so from that we were able to do
our clinical research and so all that was around cancer and so that's where we
really build
the credibility in the evidence for the model but
the interesting thing is as we said in a previous
clip we really it's not about the cancer
it's about what is the particular strasser that you're dealing with that
day
so it could be anything i mean it's it common things for most people who don't
have cancer so a lot of times it's financial difficulty or
trouble with relationships are communication or you know with your kids
or your job
so we built it because we were dealing with
patient and caregivers at the same time and we wanted this to be
a conversation that could happen in the household really
1 it that's actually why we built the whole model as a 2 person membership
because we really want not just one person to be learning the skills
but to have it be a conversation in the household and amongst your friends so
that everyone can start to understand
the philosophy and the language and the tools and it just empowers the whole
support system
to feel better the 7 pillars a personal strength works so well
for everyone when we built around cancer
we really felt that it takes a village
and while we originally focused on the patient in the caregiver
we had nurses doctors friends
administrators all same I want this for me
I'd love to have this in my own life so it's been a beautiful
you know process in terms of educating people
and making sure that they too have access to the tools
and the other thing is really because we get after you know can we do this
for heart disease or can we do it for another chronic illness or chronic pain
and
what it really comes down to having something in your life
that is affecting your daily quality of life so that you
you are motivated to feel better like there's something they ran off and it is
a chronic illness
or life-threatening illness that is having an impact on someone's life so
for us again. Does it really matter what it is
as long as there's something that is really if you you know if you could find
some tools to
have moved beyond this biggest stressor in your life
you would feel better. So its for everybody and
whether you feel like you're ready for it. maybe someone in your life is ready
for it. and thats why we
offer the ability to give it as a gift and so thats another
neat thing about reimagine as you can get it to someone else and then they get
to use reimagines
tools for themselves and someone of their choice
because that's another thing that we found working and
cancer for so long is that there so many friends and family members who wanna do
something meaningful
and people do often things I mean they make food for weeks on end in a drive to
doctors appointment so there and it there's a wonderful way
have I'm giving something but this idea of giving
something that will last a lifetime like skills that will last a lifetime and
actually
have been proven to improve quality of life it's such a cool thing to think
others doing for
someone you love it's just amazing
when you see people the first individuals
the first through second group and for instance I had a group this week thats on
session 5
and this was a particular cancer group you there
there what they were suffering from was was a cancer diagnosis
and they said oh my goodness did you notice by session 5
none of us are putting fear every occurrence they were starting to get
back
to other types of stressors you know things that now they can move forward in
their life and working on the issues you know around the children or the finances
and they were just something that was so terrifying to them
are surrendering they were surrendering it they were letting go
or the most important thing is it wasn't running their life
anymore they were taking their life back they were able to access
that place apiece within themself
that no matter what was happening and the external world
they could find a safe place
me thank you yeah
