Everyday I get to work with kids who are struggling. I become part of their lives,
I become part of the family.
I own a tutoring company and I think my kids see that this girl walks in the
room
sometimes you know just in jeans and a t-shirt, no makeup, and overweight, but
yet I'm still confident. They respond to that. It's a beautiful thing to see someone get
it and to see them
beaming with confidence, you can't beat that. I started in tutoring in middle school, continued
in high school, continued in college and I was tutoring one of my client's told her what was going on and
she said why don't you do this full time and in two weeks I was full time. So that's how we started
the brain domain. I wish I would have found Thumbtack earlier because I hire my own
people off Thumbtack and I thought I wonder if you have tutors on there so I signed us up and
immediately we started getting requests asking for tutors all different types of
tutors for all different ages, all different needs and
I think it has helped my business grow to a high degree because not only have we
been hired on there, we a high referral rate. 15 clients from Thumbtack that might lead to
at least 30 because what if one person refers us to four people and another to two. Within
six months of starting the company were big enough that we had 10 tutors working
under me and it feels very special to know that I'm a 24 year-old woman and I'm a CEO. It might
be a small company now but it still makes me feel free. To be able to help
someone know that they can do whatever they want is beautiful. Its gonna make
me cry. I love what I do.
