These are the antlers that I'm using for hair..getting ready to prepare to use in my hair. This one
does not need anything done to it. This is a full antler...and it's the right
size and the curvature curves nicely on my head. These are antler tips, they were cut
and I know that the blunt pieces, like the tips are cut, and then the blunt pieces are
used for um like dog..for dogs to chew on them um it's really good for their bodies
and also for their coats, it makes their coats really shiny they're really healthy for dogs.
So these are the tips I use the tips because they work well in my hair, and they are cut.
It's not like really sharp but its, its got an edge um from having been cut its definitely
got an edge on it and so that's what I am going to sand down. I'm just going to use
sandpaper and just gently sand all the way around, just to smooth them out buffer them
and I could paint or decorate these ends but I'm actually going to leave them like this
because I like the way they look like this. I think they look nice like this. This is
what they look like, this is what they sound like, it's a really dense, strong material.
The antlers themselves are very smooth and beautiful.
Every year deer lose their antlers and they are just left behind in the wild, and they
grow new antlers. People go out and find them and that's how I got my antlers I got them
shipped from Montana and um they were picked up um because they were, they were left behind
by deer that um, shed them and were growing new ones.
Okay I just finished sanding down the pieces that I needed to sand down and actually this
large piece I didn't have to do anything at all to it. These were the ones that were cut,
these are the tips of antlers and these edges here, right were it was cut, I needed to sand
down and I did. They're nice and smooth now. I am going to leave the cut surfaces bare
like this and then this is the sandpaper that I used and the sandpaper was actually uh it
was new when I got..when I started sanding and this is how much sanding it took to round
the edges out and actually it was not a lot of work. So they are ready, they are completely
ready. These are the three pieces I am using for my hair and this one I'm using... These
I'm using to hold my hair and this large one I am using for decorative purposes.
Here I am taking the antler and placing it curved toward my head and then I'm putting
a ponytail sort of around and in front of the antler, and then I am taking my hair and
twisting it and forming a bun. The bun is uh, kind of an elongated bun, that runs horizontally.
Then I take another antler, an antler tip and I am taking it and I'm sliding it underneath
the decorative antler and through the other side of the bun. Additional hair pins will
help to secure the hairstyle in place. I like to wear my hair in a low side bun quite
often. In this case I'm actually doing two low side buns on the same side so I kind of
split the bun in half and made two and then sort of did a twist along the side of my face
and then I used two antler tips to fasten both of the buns.
