We’re doing American fine dining. My favorite way is to teach through a meal. It’s hands on, we go through every step.
Everything goes counter-clockwise. Whoever starts the rolls doesn’t take one though.
It’s just a great opportunity I would say to learn how to behave correctly.
The way you eat soup when your fine dining is you go into the soup and away from you, and then towards you.
If you look professional, then when you go to eat a dinner you will represent your company or your job really well.
Act like you’re in control. Act like you’re not a starving UB student.
It really speaks highly to professionalism, cultural sensitivity, inter-personal skills, those are sort of the soft skills that students often don’t have the opportunity to develop.
Those qualities that you’ll learn through etiquette will definitely set you apart form other people.
It’s the skills but it’s also them eluding the confidence that they’ve established by going through this program. They’re learning but it’s a fun way and they’re enjoying a nice meal.
