- Yes, hello Catherine, I hear you perfectly.
- So you know, Bertrand De Broc was telling us yesterday "I know Armel well, he won't give up anything until last minute
nothing will be played until the finish line"
You've got knife between teeth actually ?
- Yes, listen, yes yes yes, for sure we are trying to hold on.
we're still full on aboard Banque Populaire, trying to trim the boat to the best.
and to go fast to the good place,
We gotta be patient, now it's a little bit the train, it goes away by the front because ...
François touches the trade winds, the lift a little bit before, so we are going to wait for the next days
and the approach of the high pressure. It's sure we're going to give all until the end.
as long as the finish line is not crossed
a lot of things can happen. I know that I've won a Solitaire du Figaro for 13 seconds, so we must not give anything away.
- Pierre-François Bonneau
- Yeah yeah, you're right to remind the Solitaire du Figaro, Alain Gauthier isn't here today
as it's him that you've beat !
Armel, more seriously, we have a journalist from Catalonia who wanted to know
everybody think that you are going to beat the 80 days record. He wanted to know if it's more the evolution of the boat,
the battle between leaders, or the weather conditions you had, according to you ?
- Ah .. well, it's difficult to do a precise analysis, but I think there's a little bit of everything
indeed, the boat's potential progressed since four years, for sure.
we saw it, in particular when Jeremy was still in the race, with the former winning-boat
on some points of sail, we clearly see that our boats are a little bit faster.
after for sure, the weather as certainly been more favorable on some parts of the course.
Even if the course was extended in the southern seas.
After, for sure the fight with François allowed us to maintain a high rhythm in front
But I don't think that four years ago Mich has dawdle when he was leading so ...
I think that actually, the boat's potential has progressed, it sure that ...
if we gain 2-3 percents or 4 on 80 or 90 days
It makes quite 2-3 days, so well, we quite got it at the end.
Michel did 84 days, if we take away his pit stop at Les Sable d'Olonne, we're not far from the truth.
- Armel, Phillipe Gardent is with us for the Live. Remember, Phillipe Garden, 92, Barcelona
-He wasn't born ! -He wasn't born ? no, wasn't he ? The French handball team, and he is fascinated by what you're all doing around the world
since the start from Les Sables d'Olonne , November the 10th, and he wants to ask you a question.
- My little question is to know, how you can resist to such pressure and tiredness, how is this prepared ?
quickly, cause I know that you ain't got a lot of time !
and know how much chance you give yourself to be able to beat him to the finish ?
- Ah, it's pleasant to hear Phillipe, I'm a great French handball Team's fan
I'm actually following the World championship, I hope the french will beat the Islanders in 8th
and well, to hold, it's a marathon, we're gone for a marathon, since more than 2 months now
so there's downs, hard times.
now we are more trying to have in sight the boat handling, what to do at a weather level
so, there's a kind of day to day routine aboard which make that we create our rhythm
we are vigilant, in permanent stress, we are trying to work like this, but it's not easy every days.
and well, we know that in the end there is something great to live, at the finish in particular.
and for sure, we are going to fight until the end.
My chances to win are still there. I can't tell you exactly which percentage, but in any way,
they are here, and we are going to give everything until the end, that's sure.
and we are trying to be full on until Les Sables d'Olonne to hold, and trying to overtake François, it won't be easy but there's still possibilities.
-Everything is possible as long as the finish line isn't crossed.
Thanks, thanks a lot Armel Le Cleac'h, we can applause him ladies and gentlemen because ...
he is 140 miles behind François, but everything is possible.
Be aware that there's a lot, lot of people here at the HQ, despite the snow, because there is snow everywhere on Paris.
it changes from the conditions you all have in the leading pack !
Kisses for you !
- For sure here we ain't got snow, we have sand on the mast.
we had a sand wind today, yesterday, so we got quite a lot of sand in the boat. You see, it's not snow falling here, it's sand !
- It's not the same ! Thanks a lot Armel Le Cleac'h
