This is Rob McManhon with Expert Village. Now this is good not only for building headers,
but if you are doing trim for example.
Say that we are going to trim out this board here and line it up with your end here, and
get your one nail - and that is going to hold it until you can get this point to where you
need it. Now as it is showing there is a cut in this header that is something you can straighten
with this board here so we flush it over here and pin it. A blow through there. Another
thing you want to be careful of: if one of these gun nails hits a knot that is inside
this wood - now you are not going to necessarily going to see it, it would deflect and you
can get a blow out like here. So now we are pass this point here and we are going to have
to bring that out flushed and it is quite of bit of force involved there. So we would
use a clamp. Put one edge on the 2x4 and I will squeeze that nice and flushed and you
want to pin that before it moves. That nail will hold it.
