You need two things- a train and the path it will follow. You can make the train out
of a block like this. Select it, press ctrl+t, and choose func_tanktrain.
To make the path click on the Entity tool, place it in the level, choose the selection
tool and double-click on it. Make its class a path_track. You make a string of these for
the tank to travel along. For example, if you had 2, call one 'A' and the next 'B'.
In A's next stop target property, choose B. It will now travel from A to B.
The main thing at this stage is to get it working. Once you know it works in-game, you
can mess around in its properties. There are too many to mention in this video and it's
just a matter of trial and error until you get what you like. The rest of this video
will cover potential problems. IT STARTS INSIDE THE GROUND
You can either adjust your train's 'height above track' property, or alter where this
circle is, as this is the point around which the train rotates. Be sure that your train
is selected and that this icon at the top is ticked and you should be able to see and
to drag the circle about. PLAYER BLOCKS IT
Go to the flags tab of the train's properties and tick 'Is unblockable by player'.
SHADOWS ON TRAIN The train picks up the lighting from where
it is placed within the level. Place the train somewhere else in the editor- preferably away
from annoyingly shaped shadows and lights. This is generally a case of trial and error,
it doesn't tend to take too much messing about with its location to get passable results.
