For Complex News, I'm Hanuman Welch and say what you want about A-Rod, but the Yankee
designated hitter, like the Lannisters, seems to always pay his debts. Andy Moss was recently
diagnosed with cancer and wanted to make sure he still had time to strike an entry off his
bucket list. Moss wanted to take his son David to Fenway Park so he could see the Boston
Red Sox play and meet his favorite player David Ortiz.
Moss passed away this past September and 8-year-old son, David, finally got to Fenway to see the
Red Sox take on the New York Yankees and meet Ortiz during batting practice. Ortiz passed
along the story of David and his recently deceased father on to A-Rod who introduced
himself to David when this kid straight up went for it.
"I asked if I could have his bat,". "He said, 'If I hit a home run you can have my bat!'"
A few minutes later that's exactly what happened. On the second pitch thrown by Henry Owens,
A-Rod rocketed one over the Green Monster and the three-time American League MVP made
sure to fulfill his promise to David. No word if David's new favorite team is the Yankees
or not, but for all the rest of your sports stories that reaffirm your faith in humanity,
