Here is a nice little tip to quickly change the text
of a MoText object inside CINEMA 4D.
First, let's add a MoText object
by clicking on the MoGraph menu and choosing the MoText item.
We will simply change the text alignment to "Centered".
Let's change the default text by typing in the
corresponding field in the Object Attributes panel.
This is a fairly easy process, but it would be even easier
if we could just rename the object, and then have the same
text applied to it. This is possible with a
little bit of XPresso.
Inside the XPresso window, we will just drag
and drop our MoText object two times, like this.
Next, we select each node and check that the reference mode
is set to "Relative", so that we can later make
multiple copies of our object, and change the
text for each copy individually, without affecting the original.
Let's resize the nodes so that we have enough room
to display the ports that we will be adding later.
From the output box of the first node,
we choose "Basic Properties", then "Name".
From the input box of the second node,
we choose "Object Properties", then "Text".
Finally, we link the two ports by clicking
and dragging between both of them.
To refresh the viewport, we will click on the
rewind button in the navigation controls located below
the main view.
The text now matches the object's name,
we can change it to whatever we want, and it updates instantly.
We can make a copy of the object, and rename it
without affecting the original. That's why we took care of
setting the "Reference Mode" of the nodes to "Relative" in
the XPresso editor, in the previous step.
We can make as many copies as we want, and
change their names. Quite handy, right?
Thank you very much for following this tutorial,
we will see you next time. Bye!
