Hi Panasonic Fans!
This is Cathy reporting for Panasonic News Portal.
I’m standing in front of the Globe Theatre
at Universal Studios Hollywood,
in sunny California
to attend one of Panasonic’s annual events,
the Kid Witness News Global Award Ceremony.
First, what is the Kid Witness News or KWN in short?
Well, it’s a hands-on video education program
designed to help children develop creativity
and communication skills through the use of video production.
Panasonic provides the video equipment
and participating primary and middle school students
across the world work their magic to create the outstanding videos.
Today’s award ceremony will recognize 6 of these creative videos,
selected among this year’s participating 679 schools
in 26 countries and regions, for various categorical awards.
A panel of international experts from film-making, education, and journalism
have screened the works prior to the event
and now they will be announcing the awards
including the long-awaited Grand Prize.
While most of the participating videos address themes on global environmental issues,
this year’s Grand Prize-winning video
jumped out with a focus on the serious issue of suicide.
To acknowledge the outstanding piece,
Panasonic North America’s CEO Joe Taylor
presented the Grand Prize to the winning team.
This year marks the 22nd anniversary of KWN
with its foundings right here in the United States.
Annually around 10,000 students and teachers participate in this program
and we look forward to an increasing number each year
including YOUR participation!
You can find more information about it in the links below.
That’s all from LA. Stay tuned to Panasonic News Portal
and we’ll see you again next time!
