Welcome to Liverpool!
Today we're going to talk about our City, our College,
and The University of Liverpool
So come on lets go!
I've always liked England as a study destination.
and it is for this reason that is has always been a country that has attracted me
Its education system is very well recognised, well organised, and prestigious.
I came here because the UK is in the centre of Europe,
where I can travel, and it's also very multicultural
The culture is great, it has music, football, sports ...
Nowadays, it's a powerhouse in education
and their language is very important because English can open many doors for you around the world.
Well, I wanted to study at a top ranking university
so I did a lot of research before making my decision
I wanted a university where
my degree would be practical and not very theoretical
as it is in Spain
So, my first destination choice was England; then I saw the university rankings:
for instance, The University of Liverpool
forms part of the Russell Group which is a very prestigious group of universities
I therefore decided to study here.
The first year of university is very important
because it's a big change from secondary school to university
Here, they provide a very smooth and straightforward transition
and they structure classes in more or less a similar way to what you will be doing at university
teaching you subjects, academic structure, presentations
and even how to study for an exam.
Basically, everything you need to prepare for university
and this is why I liked Liverpool international college
To enter the university, they ask you for a certain level of education
The chance to study this course prepares you with a general idea of what to expect at university
and gives you the knowledge to apply it afterwards
when studying more intensive courses at university
I was studying at Kaplan last year
working on my English
I came here confident that the college would be good,
the education would be good, and their support good, The environment was very good,
as well as the enthusiasm and energy of the teachers and students
meeting people from around the world.
meeting people from around the world.
Well, the biggest benefit was the academic knowledge.
I'm currently in my second year at the university
and I think everything I have learnt is thanks to the College.
The ideas are the same, but the College explains it to you in a more
advanced and detailed way.
Here you remember what you have studied.
Going to Liverpool international college was one of the best things I've ever done.
because it prepares you for the first year of university in such a way that no other student already here (whether British or international)
because it prepares you for the first year of university in such a way that no other student already here (whether British or international)
has been prepared before. That's what I've noticed.
It helps in many ways - from how to write essays, referencing, to how
to become a student at University of Liverpool.
It's as if you are learning the basics, but in a personalised way with teachers.
It's an essential step to succeed in the first year of university
and it has really made things easier for me.
It's completely different here, because
here, you have a student culture that includes:
the university on the campus, you live on campus, study on campus,
eat on campus, you have your classes on campus,
so your always surrounded by a student life environment.
Oh, well as a city, it's the best one! I love Liverpool.
I am from Lima and I've lived there all my life
amongst a large population of people. When I arrived in Liverpool,
I was shocked because it was a small
and compact city.
but, you get used to it
the people are super friendly, super educated
and very respectful.
Ok so, here we are in Liverpool One
which is an area in the city that has been constructed recently
about three to four years ago, and it's basically the main shopping area of Liverpool.
It has many shops to buy things; Liverpool is one of the best cities for shopping in the UK.
Here we are in Liverpool One
in front of the official Liverpool FC shop.
The city is very passionate about football,
you can feel the energy from the fans.
As football fans, we love going to the
stadiums or to the pubs to watch the matches
which are truly incredible.
If you have the opportunity to come here,
don't think twice about it, because it is an opportunity that may not come again,
and you owe it to the people who are desperate to come, but can not.
First, be motivated. However, I don't think this will be a problem because
the city and university motivate you directly
and the teachers motivate you as well.
be eager to learn and be open to other cultures.
I think it would be good to be prepared
for the change between a Latin American city
and that of Liverpool, and the benefits that it gives -
I don't think I've mentioned that, here it's
three years for an undergraduate degree
compared to Peru, which is at least five years
after which you get only general ideas before starting your career.
Here you complete your degree in three years
and go directly to having a career, a title
and the knowledge that you have learnt.
Well, I would tell them that if they have the opportunity
to come over here to Liverpool, in the UK
to come with an open mind and a willingness to
have a great time, and enjoy every little thing.
Most of all, to go through this transition from foundation to University
which is very very important. I believe it is very important because
after all the work you have done at the College,
it will help you with all the work you do later,
All this foundation training will teach you the basics
needed to get good grades in university.
But, I recommend that you come with an open mind, have fun,
and look forward to achieving great things.
