Today we have with us a 2011 Honda Pilot, and we are going to be test fitting a Thule
Roof Rack system using the AeroBlade Load Bars and the Rapid Crossroad feet. We have
the 53 AeroBlades with us, but with this vehicle you could step up and use the full 60 AeroBlades.
We already have our crossbar assemblies put together so we are ready to mount them on
top of our vehicle. We will start with the front crossbar first. Well set it up in place
and we will double check to make sure the overhang is even on both sides of the vehicle.
We also need to make sure that the crossbar runs perpendicular to our factory raised side
rails, and to do this we will find a fixed point on our side rails on either side, and
measure to the end of the Rapid Crossroad feet to make sure that the measurement is
the same on both sides. Next we can go ahead and tighten down the
front crossbar. Well move back and forth from the passengers side to the drivers side to
make sure that we tighten down the system evenly and dont lose our positioning. With
our front load assembly tightened down we are ready to go ahead and start with the rear.
Because this is a factory raised crossbar system there is no crossbar spread, however
Thule does recommend that we do not exceed a maximum of 38 from the center of the front
bar to the center of the rear bar. We need to make sure that the rear bar runs parallel
to our front bar, so we will measure from the center of the front to the center of the
rear and make sure that measurement is the same on both sides.
