Hi guys. In this video, I just want to show you how to use
Academic Search Premier to search a particular publication.
Professor Collihan has recommended Foreign Policy, Foreign Affairs,
and The Economist. I believe most of Foreign Policy is
free online, but the others have a lot of content that you’d have to pay
to get. Of course, we can get them through the databases.
I’ll go to Find Articles. Then I’ll go to
Academic Search Premier.
I could start searching here, but if you want to make sure you’re checking out the publications
that she has recommended, you can go to Publications.
Then we could put in either Economist or Foreign Affairs.
There’s Foreign Affairs. We have it full text from 1922 on.
I can’t imagine you ever need an article from 1922 from Foreign Affairs
but if you did... OK, so if
for some reason you had a particular issue in mind you could go right to that issue.
But we can also search with in this publication.
The only trick is you’ want to put in something like
and Somalia.
If you leave out the and,
you get no results. They just want you to use the word and
in between them. Once you do that
you’d get 29 results.
I hope that was helpful. Thanks.
