it does seem that change within an organization is pretty inevitable
it's going to happen and then the question is
for me, my answer is how do I embrace it, how do I
get in there, dive in, can I volunteer for something, can I
get involved because I like to be involved at the beginning
now that's not true for everybody, there may be some particular concerns
so it might be for example that a person is slightly fearful
their thinking is actually this is going to change the way my job is
for me the thing that counteracts the fear
is to find out the facts, what's really happening, how will it affect me
there may be some new skills that you may need to
learn as a result, great, I want to be in there first
to find out what that is and
be at the forefront and sometimes it can just be
the fear and the uncertainty of not necessarily knowing what's going on
positive emotions, some deep breathing, focusing on things you can focus on
thinking about
three good things every day, keep you lifted
and recognize that these things are going to happen
mistakes are great in business actually
because we learn from them and the fact that you've recognized that you've
made a mistake is super, there may be some
some apologizing that you need to do, some putting right
but actually the question really is how do you learn, it may be that you need to make a
note of it
but I would also say take a moment and just go
yeah I've made the mistake, celebrate, because
you don't want to make it again so you want to mark the fact that you've made it
I think it's a
challenge and I think many people do it and I'm assuming you don't mean
study at work, I'm assuming that there's something around
doing your work and perhaps in the evenings, mornings
doing some study perhaps in the lunchtime as well
you will know what time of day works best for you
I know that I'm really quite sharp
first thing in the morning so I do my writing and
any sort of studying that I want to do, I typically
try and get an hour in first thing, A. because it makes me feel great
if I go to work then thinking, I've already achieved an hour of
study
that's a great way to set up the day, but that might not
be your best time
so it's also about thinking what's your best time,
what can you do when,
have you got a commute where you're on a train, can you do some reading
on a train
do you like noise
when you're studying or some people like total quiet
so there's some thinking about what really works for you
which may be different from the next person, so just be clear on what
works for you
and then there's no
easy way to say what it takes is discipline, there is something
about doing a little bit every day
I think it's far easier to have done half an hour
every day and get to the weekend and go yeah I'm going to do
a couple hours rather than beat yourself up and go I haven't done anything
this week, we can get into a bit the downward spiral
we haven't done anything
we feel bad, we don't want to start,
we get down and
we try and do too much we try and cram a lot into
some time, we overdo it, we get bored of doing it so
the other side it is to do small achievable steps
which create more of an upward spiral
