Let's talk about friends and music.
We have 4 musicians from 2 groups here today. Members of both groups were originally friends and formed a group.
What made friends form a group?
We went to the same junior high school and were in the same group.
One day we went to see a movie.
The inserted song, Cream's "White Room" really inspired us and we started getting into music.
Then we all started listening and playing music.
We used to exchange records and CDs and belong to the band club at school playing music and hanging out.
Then we ended up forming a band.
We used to see each other every day even on the weekend.
It was like 350 days a year.
We were doing that for 3 years during Junior high and 3 years during High school.
We still did after we graduated. Sometimes I wonder who are they to me.
You guys don't see each other privately now?
No.
There was a time we stopped hanging out together privately. We became band members from friends at that point.
The last time we hung out, we went to the bar called "Jailhouse Bar".
He called me for the first time in a long time and asked me what I was doing.
I was at Jailhouse Bar drinking, so I asked him to come.
They had ghosts at the bar and we had fun.
That was 2 years ago.
We went to the same elementary school but had never been in the same class. After we graduated high school, he asked me to join his band.
I was playing drums.
There were 2 other members besides us and they were trying to become pros.
We were more like laid back and started complaining.
In the mean time, we both confessed that we've been writing music and started showing lyrics to each other.
We were in the same class only for one year when we were in the 9th grade.
So other people who had also attended that school with asked us why you two formed a group?
After your debut, the attitude of your classmates in school toward you has changed?
Hmm...not really.
We attended the school reunion when we were 22 years old after our debut.
We haven't changed, so we acted normally.
But they were like "Take a picture with me!" or "Give me your autograph!".
Now I appreciate how they reacted.
We went there as classmates but it turned out like that. So, we sneaked out of the party.
That time, we didn't have anything in common.
But after we became 34 or 35 years old, we started having fun with classmates like we were in school.
I don't think money makes you happy. Times are different now.
Now we've got something in common and empathize.
We share our experiences.
Sounds fun.
It's good to get older.
Our classmates, they have weird attitude toward us.
It's not like they ask us to take a picture with them.
They are like "that's crap".
What do you mean?
They are like "Oh you are doing your thing".
They are like "wow you guys are still doing it".
Are they like "What's your band name again? Okamoto's?"
Yes, there are classmates like that too.
Why are they like that?
I don't know.
Our school is kinda odd. Full of knuckleheads.
Our school too.
Listening to what you said, I'm looking forward to seeing them when we reach our 30's.
It's gonna be fun.
Do you think what it would be like if you worked with your friends?
I am an only child and have been working as a solo artist.
So I can't really imagine myself being in a group.
Any plan to form your own band?
I don't play instruments.
You are a vocalist and could hire some musicians.
I don't know.
Oh, ok.
This is my first time thinking about what friends are.
I was thinking about my chart listening to what everybody saying. I think I was confused on "Talk like friends".
Don't you change the way you talk to older people when they tell you "you can talk to me like friends"?
I can't.
I was told not to put "san (the Japanese honorific)" at the end when I called them because they felt a wall.
Yumin told us the same thing.
She was like "You don't put "san" to my name.
It's like you don't put "san" to the name of Mickey Mouse"
She is "Yumin".
Good job Kyary!
We talked about friends today. How was that?
Everybody has different definitions. It was interesting.
The borderline between friends and acquaintances is different too.
So, what's your definition of friends?
"My judgement."
Reiji gave me some ideas.
If someone calls you friend, you are their friend.
Even though two of us have different feelings about it, you are the one how to call that relationship.
What she just said is OK with you?
Perfect.
But she should do another take saying it's Okamoto Reiji's definition.
Once again, today we talked about friends.
I was so surprised to hear that Yumin is Mickey Mouse.
I was so surprised to hear that Yumin is Mickey Mouse.
She is not Minnie Mouse. Mickey Mouse.
