Hey guys! It's me! I just wanted to talk to you about something that I'm doing right now.
Which I haven't done in a while. I have decided to do a juice fast, the longest I've ever
gone, I've done a few juice fasts before. But I've never been able to go longer than
three days. So! I've decided that I want to try and exceed that and go for a much longer
period of time. I first learned about juice fasting from that movie "Fat, Sick, and Nearly
Dead" it's actually a really good movie. You can actually watch it on Netflix. If you want
to check it out. But anyways, so... a lot has been going on I've been visiting family,
and we've had people visit us, just a lot of eating out. And getting take-out food,
just eating a lot of stuff that I don't normally eat on a daily basis. And I can feel it catching
up with me. I've gained about 12 pounds which I'm not really happy about. And I've just
been wanting to nip it in the bud, and go back to my strict raw/vegan diet. Because
I haven't been doing as well as I normally am. So I want to do this because we have a
few things coming up in October so I want to do this before we're going to visit people
some more. And I'll be in a situation that I can't control necessarily the food around
me. I always do my best with what I have to work with so this time I've decided, this
is going to last about three weeks until I go visit my family. I've decided to do a three
week juice fast. Which will be about 19 days total. Which is kinda scary because like I
said, I've never done it that long before. But I know that it has been done for that
long before by other people. The guy on that movie like I just talked about, he did it
for about, I believe it was sixty days. Yeah, he did it for sixty days. And I think there's
something about fasting that builds your confidence. It's like "I won't let food control me, I
can do this." Because sometimes it can be a confidence booster. And it's interesting
because you think that while not eating you think that you'll feel very weak and very
tired, sometimes you can. This is my day two, today in my cleanse. Some days I do feel a
little bit more tired, today I'm a little spacey. But it passes eventually. And there
are some days that I actually feel more energetic than if I was eating my large meals. And it's
interesting the biggest reason why you can get more energy from juicing than from eating
a big meal it that you're putting foods in your body that is pure vitamins. The best
form of vitamins is through green vegetables and fruits, etc. And it's a very good way
to detox, it's actually the cheapest way you can cleanse your body. There are cleanses
out there that are in pill form, or some sort of shake, or whatever. But this is the most
natural form of detoxing your body. And it's the best as far as a full body cleanse. Because
some are just a colon cleanse, or it's just a urinary cleanse, or just different cleanses
for different areas of the body. When you do a juice fast it is a full body cleanse.
So what i'm hoping to get out of this is to lose the weight but also to kinda reboot my
body. Give it that little boost of energy again because I've been a little more tired.
And I've been getting more head aches. Which is frustrating because I never get head aches,
but because I've been eating more processed foods than I normally do I've been getting
head aches almost everyday. And it's really not comfortable. So I guess I'll keep you
guys updated on how it goes. I'm really hoping that I'll be able to do this, I want to stay
positive. I don't want to think "Oh I hope I can make it" because I want to say "I will
do it". So that I actually will do it. My recommendation is if any of you are thinking
about doing a juice fast the best way to do it is to get all the stuff that you need.
Be sure to mix it up, sometimes what I'll do is have my fruits and vegetables but it's
also good, I have a citrus juicer also, to kind of mix it up. So I'll buy oranges so
I can make myself some orange juice, or I make this lemon tea where it's just water,
lemon, and honey. And sometimes at the end of the day if I am really wanting "food" I
will do smoothies. Because it's still technically a liquid, and I'll do some almond milk, bananas,
and some frozen fruit but it's all still just fruits. But the smoothy it can make you feel
more full, if you're just like ARGGG I'M SO HUNGRY! So sometimes that can help and sometimes
I'll get Perrier water, just that bubbly water and squeeze some lemons, or limes in it and
sometimes the citrus shock can just really boost your energy and make you feel very energized.
So yeah I do a few different things like that to kinda change it up and make it less boring
because sometimes you're like, "ugh I'm tired of vegetables" so we'll go do a smoothy instead
or lets make some orange juice. So it can make it a bit more enjoyable. You just don't
eat any solid foods. It's like last night, it was my first day fasting and more than
anything I really want to snack when I'm bored. Or if I'm just chilling. I almost think that
that's more of a struggle for me than just feeling hungry. It's not even just feeling
hungry, it's more like I'm really bored and I want to snack on something. So that can
almost be harder for me because I'm a real "snacky" kind of person, with my chips and
hummus and my favorite dips etc. But if any of you want to try and do this I would definitely
recommend it. When I was first changing my diet something I would recommend for some
people that maybe have diabetes or other serious illnesses. Sometimes "fasting" isn't an option
for people. I can understand and relate to that. I used to have hypoglycemia, and getting
closer and closer to becoming a diabetic. So when I was first changing my diet I couldn't
do a juice fast, because I had to be able to eat. I used to have to eat every two hours,
but luckily I was able to turn it around. But what I did instead of a juice fast was
I ate pure vegetables and fruits I was 100% raw. And I kind of had the same physical effects
of detoxing but I was able to eat. So it didn't matter how much I was eating, because when
all you eat is fruits and vegetables the amount doesn't matter. What does matter is the quality
of the food. You know how people will eat meat and potatoes but they'll only give themselves
smaller portions because they think that's healthier, when in reality you need healthier
food and more of it. So what's healthier is to eat A LOT but make sure it's healthier
food. So you can just eat as much as you want which can feel pretty good because you can
eat until you're full. And not just feel like you're starving. So that's what I did for
several months I just ate raw fruits and vegetables. I didn't eat anything cooked, nothing. And
my body detoxed and I was losing weight. And eventually I got rid of my hypoglycemia. So
it was really good and now I feel much healthier. I am able to go much longer without eating
and I'm not so bound by food. Food doesn't control me, I control my food now. And so
it's kind of freeing to feel like you're in charge. Like when I used to always keep food
on my mind whenever I would go on trips I was worry about where can I get food? And
it was always on my mind. And now it's nice because you can find fruits and vegetables
anywhere! So it's not that difficult for me to find food now. And I don't need to worry
about traveling. So it's been nice. And I will keep you guys updated on how my juice
fast goes, but I'm really excited! I hope I do well, I know that it'll work but I just
hope that I can stick with it. And do it for the whole 19 days. Okay! Thanks for joining
me, bye!
