"Hi Pierangelo!" - Hi Thomas!"
Here we are with our second interview! One year has passed since then
But before we start i want to ask you something and show you
a little take from our previous chat :)
Mentioning the evolutions about our amplifiers
we are working on a 2 channels, both head and combo
and we are working on automatic potentiometers too
project you told us about last year?
Of course we do! i'm going to show you!
What the hell is that?
a while, a year to be exact
and thank god we have a half-finalized version of it
it's well known as "Motorized", but we haven't chosen the final name yet
It's a very simple head, it can be used as a single-channel
it has many sounds you can recall
in this case: Normal, Drive and Overdrive
to switch from a very smooth clean to very overdriven sound
and you have the possibility to choose clean, crunch and lead plus
to choose the patch with the position of the potenziometers!!
You can save the position of the pots and recall it through MIDI!
All this with a very simple interface!
We have: Gain, Volume, Eq plus a very interesting feature, the Feedback pot
That works on the power amplifier and let you obtain a Fender sound or
or a Marshall one! with all the tweaks and nuances between them :)
In addition you have other 3 Manual controls (not motorized)
Such as Presence, Depth and Master Volume that let you reach more accurate sounds
of controlling all the presets made before
presets the desidered volume on stage :)
an all-valve sound like the Usual Masotti's production?
TOTALLY valve sound! Preamp structure let the signal pass between the double triode
so 6 preamp valves and 4 for the final section
The automated pots are set with a step by step engine
the audio signal ONLY in analogic way
all through the valves, like a traditional amplifier
The engines works only to tweak the knobs from a spot to another one
When this amp will be on sale? Can you give us an anticipation?
It will be out in 2011, yes...definitively in the 2011
are working on it very hard you know...
So...why are some of them already out if they comes in 2011? :P
Because this is part of our policy :P
i mean...here at Masotti we study the project at least one year before
to give to the final user really reliable products
This head for example is doing tournee and studio sessions to verify
the use and behaviours, even in recording sessions, aiming at the maximum quality ever!
and correct all we can to get the maximum sound quality of course.
Furthermore we work so *** tournee making them work as much as possible
Before the entrance in the market we invest on the RELIABILITY :)
will have a realiable product between his hands
Pier, which kind of problems you aim to correct with this head?
So what is the purpose of this motorized one?
Well, lets say we don't want to sacrifice ANYTHING about sound
that's the main thing to start with
and we have studied it as we would have a single channel head
So, one channel, that can be saved in presets for more gain possibilities...
As i already told, NO SOUND COMPROMISES, but very very versatile
Expecially for the session musician or professional users in general
that need many sounds and many sound levels, this is a very interesting object
that will solve so many of this kind of need
What about the interface? we are now messing around with the midi pedalboard controller
while we do this interview...but how many other interface we have here? Midi,
to the user the different uses he needs anytime
We are still working on it, meaning that the external interface will be
head :), you will have the opportunity
to use some expression pedals to interact with, so you will assign them to
particular functions such as: gain control, volume, mid, treble or bass pots!
feedback pot and so on...to simply pass from one sound to another
There will be the opportunity to save the presets through an USB out
built in the rear part of the head
you will be able to tweak them with a Pc Editor
in real time with a laptop/desktop setups
I noticed that the pots automated changes are really fast between presets switch
channels? that would be science fiction but really cool :P
As i said before there will be the chance to put an expression pedal
and have a Morphing in real time! but the real point of interest here
give user a sensation of a normal channel switch
like the traditional heads, without volume drop, or bumping effect and so on
all is quiet, smooth and very clear...all feels natural to the player
but in the moment the user will need a preset slower than normal
there will be the chance to recall a morphing structure from a selection
of 10 kinds of delayed channel switches that will let a preset change
from 2/10 sec to 2 sec (just to make an example)
and tweaks the way he want :)
one last worry i still have is
want you to promise me a thing...
to make another review of such an interesting product
Absolutely! :P
Thanks again Pier! see you next time!
Bye!
