Hello! My name is Denise Robinson, and on behalf of expertvillage.com I am here to talk
about garage sales and consignment shops. In this segment we are just going to put everything
that we talked about together. Just remember the difference between garage sales and consignment
shops. Garage sales, you jump into your car, ride around the neighborhood and find out
who is selling stuff out of their house. You have the option to barter and haggle with
the seller. Consignment shops is a little more like going to a resale, which it is a
resale but a retail store, they are set up in little different departments, where you
have your dresses here, your skirts here, men’s shirts here, shoes here. The pricing
is more set between the owner of the store and the seller, they agree on a price to sell
their items, and once that item is sold the owner of the store gets a percentage. The
type of things that you will find at a garage sales, remember that you can find anything
from whatnots, baby items, clothing, shoes, a little bit of everything, it is a hodgepodge
of little bit of everything. Consignment shops can be two types, clothing or you can have
appliances and furniture, always look for quality, quality, quality, make sure that
you inspect your items, because once you buy them you cannot take your receipt back, you
probably would not even get a receipt at garage sale. Check your items and make sure that
they are somewhat clean, totally clean, that they smell to your smell, make sure and hold
them up to the sunlight to check for wear holes. And buying handbags, the same thing,
make sure that the bag is in good condition inside and out. Same with hats, always check
for any wear holes and inside the head band. And the last but not least, take a friend
and have fun, and venture out to find items that you might want to buy at a cheap price.
