Hello it’s Diane from how-to-be-a-bad-artist.com I want to share my new project with you, mini
gift boxes that look like handbags. You can make these in whatever colour you like and
decorate them in any way that you choose. They are really quick to make and I’ve created
a free template of the gift box for you to download.
If you go to the link that I’ve put below this video, it will take you to the gift box
project on my website, how-to-be-a-bad-artist.com, that has instructions and the template for
you to download.
When you download the template it will look like this. The thick line on the outside is
the outer edge of the box. The dotted lines indicate fold lines.
Cut this out and with a pencil draw around it onto your chosen piece of card. The template
prints out onto an A4 size paper, which is 21x29 cm, 8 1/4 x 11 3/4 inches, but you can
enlarge it or reduce it as you wish on a photocopier or by changing your printer settings. Here’s
a smaller one that I made.
When you’ve cut out your gift box, it should look like this.
You can cut out the circles for the handles with a circle punch if you have one. Keep
any offcuts of paper to use for decoration later on.
Next you will need to fold along the fold lines. You can use a bone folder, or the back
of a teaspoon.
You can strengthen the box by adding a square of card to the bottom and gluing it down.
This is optional. Glue the edges of the box along the flaps.
When the glue is dry, decorate the box. I used flower shaped punches and a circle punch to create the decoration
for my boxes, which I attached with brads. I also used a tag with a greeting and ribbon.
I wrapped my gift with tissue paper before placing inside the box.
