Hi, and welcome back to M&J’s Do-It-Yourself video blog!
Spring is in the air, and girly frocks will dominate the season. Since I am such a fan
of up-cycling things from the closet, or an inexpensive thrift store find, I’d like
to show you how to turn a simple camisole into a great top that will fit right in with
spring’s hottest trend.
Materials you’ll need for his project include camisole, lace, floral trim, sewing machine,
scissors, and a hand needle and thread.
Remove the bottom 6 inches of the camisole. Create a finished hem by folding the bottom
over ½ inch and press (with iron). Fold again another ½ inch and press again.
Pleat the 2 inch lace. I created one inch pleats, roughly 1½ inches apart. Stitch,
using the sewing machine. Clean the edges of your floral trim. Finish the ends of the
5 ½ inch lace by folding over ½ inch twice, and press.
Starting at the center back, pin the lace to the bottom of the camisole. Machine stitch.
Pin the pleated base around the front neckline, and machine stitch. Pin the floral trim over
the top of the pleated lace. Finish by hand-stitching.
Your spring look is complete.
That’s all for this week’s video clip. Be sure to check on our blog for all the materials
used here today. Join us next week for more do-it-yourself projects. Thanks for joining
us.
