Atrocity of Dog Slaughter in South Korea's Dog Meat Industry Produced by KAWA (Korean Society for Animal Freedom) www.animals.or.kr/
As methods of slaughter, dogs are hanged or electrocuted. Strangulation by hanging is illegal and can be punishable by fine of up to 5,000,000 Korean Won ($4,500 USD) and generally electrocution is used in the markets.
As a result of our investigation, we found that the method of electrocution does not kill the dog right away. Even after the electrocution device is applied, they are paralyzed but still conscious.
According to the WSPA(World Society of Protection of Animals)'s scientific research finding, when the electricity is applied to a live animal and it is still conscious, it will cause an extreme pain and suffering to the animal.
This video recorded the scenes of dog slaughter taking place every day in the South Korea's traditional dog meat markets.
Electrocution is not a euthanasia.
From the moment electricity is applied to the moment the hairs are removed takes about 2-5 minutes but we don't know if the dog was completely dead during this time period.
In this case, body is paralyzed but still conscious and they will experience extreme terror and die from suffocation or have to suffer more pain of their hair being removed before they are finally dead.
Brutal dog slaughter being committed in the name of food culture.
It's time that we rethink about the animals that contributes to our lives.
Please join us in this cause to reduce the number and the kinds of animals that we use for humans.
