Today we will make chips with lotus stem (kamal kakdi).
If you feel like eating something piping hot with supper and lotus
stem is easily available at home then chips can be prepared instantly.
Let's start with the procedure of making chips.
Lotus stem – 2
Chaat masala – 1 tsp
Oil – for frying
For making chips we will peel and then cut lotus stem.
We have already washed the stems.
Remove stalk from both sides.
Now make thin pieces of chips.
Wash the chips again with water to remove dust particles.
This is lotus stem's chips.
Now place the chips on a muslin cloth so that water gets soaked in the cloth.
Soak the water from the chips.
There is no moisture in the chips now. The cloth has absorbed the water.
Now we will fry them.
For this heat oil in a pan
Oil is hot now fry the chips.
We will put one piece of chips to see if its frying or not.
This shows that the oil is pretty hot now.
The chips is frying perfectly.
Now put the lotus stem chips in it to fry.
Bring the flame to medium and fry until chips get golden brown in color.
We had kept the flame high beacuse we had to heat the oil.
The chips are golden brown. Take out the fried chips in a plate.
Increase the flame. Fry rest of the chips as well.
It takes 5-7 minutes for frying chips of one time.
The chips are ready now. Sprinkle some chaat masala over them while still hot.
This is homemade chat masala.
If you don't have chaat masala at your home then
add some black pepper powder and salt in chips.
½ tsp chaat masala is sufficient for this much of chips.
Crusty and crispy lotus stem chips are ready.
Serve them with tea or coffee.
