Hi! I'm Karina Fraley for Expert Village and tonight we're talking about Halloween safety
tips for trick or treating. If you're going to carve pumpkins this year, you might want
to steer away from any sort of open flame. They really aren't necessary. Candles are
not necessary anymore to light up your pumpkin. Nowadays, there are a lot of different options.
You can use flashlight if you can, use string lights, or they even have these little lights
that are very inexpensive and can be picked up at most drugstores. They're just battery
operated. You turn them on and they have a very long life. They will light your pumpkin
just as well as any candle will. Another option is a prefabricated pumpkin like this. This
is made out of resin. As you can see, it just has traditional carving, but there is a bulb
in there that lights the pumpkin and aluminates it nicely. That's an option. If you want to
set mood lighting, you don't have to use real candles. This looks like a real candle, but
in fact, it's just plastic. When you turn it on it looks very much like a real lit candle.
These can be picked up at home improvement stores or a variety of other stores. These
are all very good options. They will set the mood that you want, but they'll do so safely
and they'll help you have a very happy and safe Halloween.
